1490 - Vitruvian Man
In 1490 Leonardo completed one of his most famous sketches titled the Vitruvian Man. In this drawing Leonardo was studying the human body and it's proportions. The man in the picture is standing in two different positions inside of a circle and a square, demonstrating the proportions of a human body. Leonardo had become interested with anatomy and studying the human body at the time, although it wasn't a popular idea. He was one of the first to venture into this subject and also has many other detailed sketches and drawings related to this subject.
