1469 - New Rulers of Florence
In 1469 Lorenzo and Giuliano de' Medici (Lorenzo was more commonly known as "Lorenzo the Magnificent") became the new rulers of Florence. Their father had just died so they were next in line. The Medici family was an extremely powerful family that controlled most of Italy. Lorenzo and Giulano continued to rule Florence for several more years before the Pazzi family attempted to assassinate them in 1478. Lorenzo survived, but Giuliano did not.
