1502 - Military Engineer for Cesare Borgia
At age 50 Leonardo became a military engineer for Cesare Borgia, the duke of Valentinois and Romagna and son of Pope Alexander VI. Leonardo was given the job to travel around Romagna to check and improve fortifications. While in this position he continued to invent many machines and weapons for battle. He also proved his skills at geography by creating many maps for Cesare during his time as engineer.
